An international competition for student cabinet-makers, in which guest students from Slovakia, Poland and Hungary have accepted invitations, is also being held.
The task facing the students in the competition is to produce a given product within a time limit of 5 hours. The primary aim of this national competition is to support talented students and to give them the chance of comparing their skills in their chosen field on a regular basis. It also aims to increase the promotion, prestige and attractiveness of cabinet-making, to engage the largest possible number of companies and suppliers in education and, first and foremost, to attract new people to the field and thereby meet the demands of the labour market.

Textiles for shaping the modern home and the working environment

Those attending this lecture will find out about new developments in interior textiles. Contemporary interior textiles may have other extremely important properties in addition to
providing visual beauty, such as the ability to improve acoustics and reduce environmental noise, the ability to improve hygiene and, not least, the ability to reduce the risk of flames spreading in the case of fire. The use of fire-retardant and fireproof upholstery fabrics, curtains and net curtains is demanded by the law in public spaces, though voluntary (if beneficial to the user) in the home.

Direct and 3D refined veneers from exotic and domestic roundwood in relation to interiors

This lecture is to focus on the creation and use of veneers. Veneers are wonderful, each one a different and unrepeatable product of nature. We know them primarily applied to the flat
surfaces of furniture, but new 3D technology makes it possible to have a beautiful veneer from the same tree on both flat and curved surfaces in an interior. This new veneer is also used to decorate the interiors of the most expensive automobiles. 3D veneers can also be used advantageously on beautiful upholstered or non-upholstered seating designed by leading Czech designers.

Surface finishes for the visible parts of wooden frameworks for upholstered furniture, including fireproof furniture, for public interiors

This lecture on surface finishes for solid wood and veneer follows on from the previous lecture. A surface finish can not only increase the beauty of a natural material, but also augment its user properties, including the possibility of applying certain finishes to reduce the risk of the spread of burning during a fire.
