The International Quilt Show Brno is the largest showcase of combined textile techniques not only in the Czech Republic, but also in Central and Eastern Europe. Until 2019, it was held in Prague and after a long pause, it will resume in 2022 with its 14th edition at the Brno Exhibition Centre. The exhibition is regularly attended by leading artists and authors of artistic wall quilts. Thanks to the high number of quilts and the 8,000 visitors, the exhibition ranks 4th in Europe, and its level is rising year by year.
On an area of 6000 m2, more than 900 pieces of collections of mostly wall quilts (modern tapestries) by 400 artists from all over the world and a selection of works by Czech artists are regularly presented. One third of the area is occupied by specialised shops in the sales area, which offer a wide selection of fabrics, tools, textile accessories, sewing machines, lighting, beads, decorations and textile paints, a range of knitting yarns and author's clothing.
Demonstrations of various techniques and mini courses for beginners are held at many of the stalls. Courses are led by renowned domestic and foreign textile artists.
